• ON THE COVER: The conservation of the Charles Hoffbauer Memorial Military Murals is well underway at the VHS. The effort is generously supported in part by Save America's Treasures through a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Park Service, Department of the Interior. The talented team of conservators from Richmond Conservation Studio have been hard at work restoring the important large-scale pieces of Civil War artwork that were painted between 1913 and 1920. The hard-working conservators are shown on the front cover as they clean and repair the murals.
