In the Garden of BeastsOn October 17, Erik Larson will deliver the 2013 J. Harvie Wilkinson, Jr., Lecture entitled "In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin." Erik Larson chronicles William Dodd's time in Germany in a new book, In the Garden of Beasts. It's a detailed portrait of the man who served for four years as the ambassador to Germany before resigning — after repeatedly clashing with both Nazi Party officials and the State Department.

The lecture will take place at First Baptist Church, and a light reception and book signing will take place at the Virginia Historical Society following the lecture.

Mr. Larson will be signing books after the lecture for a very limited time. Pre-order your signed copy of In The Garden of BeastsVisit our online shop  or call 804.342.9671 for more information.

Please note: this is a members-only lecture. Reservations are required. Seating is limited. Overflow seating will be used once capacity is reached in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church.
