Tall case clock made in Lynchburg

Tall case clock, c.1820
This c. 1820 case clock, crafted of mahogany and mahogany veneers, houses iron workings of Jehu Williams, Sr., and John Victor of Lynchburg. One of only five extant Williams & Victor clocks, the American Federal period timepiece was acquired by Lora Robins and donated to the VHS as part of the Lora Robins Collection of Virginia Art. The clock's face features an iron dial embellished with moon phases and a painted calendar ring made from sheet iron.
