Frequently asked questions about VHS tours

What does group admission cost?

Group rates apply to 10 or more visitors. Students are charged $2, adults are charged $3. One adult per ten students will be admitted at no charge. The Youth Education Fund underwrites admission fees for school groups that visit the Virginia Historical Society. To find out if your school qualifies for this funding, call the Education Office at 804.342.9652. Members of the Virginia Historical Society are admitted free of charge.

How should my school pay for a tour?

Payment is due upon arrival at the front desk. We accept all major credit cards as well as checks.

What if my group is late?

Although we make every effort to be flexible with our guided tours, your visit may be abbreviated if your group arrives late. If you anticipate being late, please call the tour office at 804.342.9652, or the front desk at 804.342.9671.

Typically, no. VHS staff can accommodate one program per visit.

How early do I need to schedule a tour?

We ask that group tours be scheduled at least three weeks in advance.
