Frequently asked questions about VHS tours
What does group admission cost?
Student group tours are provided free of charge thanks to the Youth Education Fund.
What if my group is late?
Although we make every effort to be flexible with our guided tours, your visit may be abbreviated if your group arrives late. If you anticipate being late, please call the front desk at 804.342.9671, or the School Program Coordinator at 804.342.9652.
Are there special rules and procedures for group tours?
Yes. A Group Leader/Chaperone Guide is available for download HERE. To ensure that your students get the most out of their visit, please review museum rules before your arrival and share the information with adult chaperones who will join your group.
Can multiple tours be scheduled on the same day?
Yes, depending on that day’s schedule and the number of students in your group.
How early do I need to schedule a tour?
We ask that group tours be scheduled at least three weeks in advance. Please be aware that our schedule for March, April, and May fills up quickly. The earlier you contact the VHS, the more likely you will be able to secure your preferred tour slot.
I submitted an online request for a VHS tour. What should I expect to get from the VHS?
Within a few days of submitting your request, you should receive an e-mail or telephone call from the School Program Coordinator to fine-tune your group’s reservation. After you confirm the date, time, and number of students, you will be e-mailed a confirmation form for your visit. Please be aware that without a confirmation form from the education office, your reservation is not complete.
