Protecting the Endangered Céloron Plate

The Céloron plate is one of the most important artifacts to survive from Virginia’s colonial period and one of the most treasured among the museum pieces held at the VHS. Over the years, corrosion has occurred on the piece, despite the care taken in its display. Help us protect the endangered Céloron plate by making a donation today!

Restoring the Hoffbauer murals

ConservationThe Memorial Military Murals, by Charles Hoffbauer (1875-1957), are an American treasure. Important cleaning and conservation work has started, thanks to a Save America's Treasures grant awarded by a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Park Service, Department of the Interior. The grant comes with a challenge to match it with private support—with your support.

Be part of the Hoffbauer Circle.  This generous group of donors contribute $1,000 or more to support the restoration of the Hoffbauer Murals. They enjoy special recognition in VHS publications and website. We will send you a reproduction print of one of the seasons for each gift of $1,000 or more. Help restore the Hoffbauer murals.
