Stratford Hall
Stratford Hall, Westmoreland County, Virginia (begun c. 1738)

Robert E. Lee was born at Stratford Hall, on the Potomac River, into a distinguished family. At age three, however, the bankruptcy of Lee's father drove the family from the ancestral plantation to take up residency in Alexandria.
