"The Modern Presidency"

On October 20, 2006, Mr. Beschloss delivered this lecture at the 2006 symposium, "Virginians in the White House."
An award-winning historian of the presidency and author of eight books, including his most recent work The Conquerers: Roosevelt, Truman and the Destruction of Hitler's Germany, 1941–1945 (2002), Michael Beschloss is a regular commentator on PBS's The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and a contributor to ABC News. He is currently working on a history of Abraham Lincoln's last days and his assassination, to be published by Simon & Schuster. Beschloss is an alumnus of Williams College and Harvard University and has been an historian on staff of the Smithsonian Institution, a Senior Associate Member at Oxford University, and a Senior Fellow of the Annenberg Foundation in Washington, D.C.
