Gifts and donations
The Virginia Historical Society began collecting books, manuscripts,
maps, newspapers, photographs, and museum objects from its inception
in 1831. The great majority of the contents of the fine collection that has
been developed over the years has been received through the gifts of generous
donors.
Should you have materials you think might be of interest for
inclusion in the Society's holdings, please contact the appropriate staff
member listed below in order discuss a potential gift. Some gifts may
qualify as tax deductible donations.

As a private, non-profit organization, the Virginia Historical Society
relies on the generous financial support of its friends and members. Gifts
to the Annual Fund support all aspects of operations of the Society,
including maintaining collections, mounting exhibits, producing society
publications, educational services, training of volunteers, and staff. We
also are pleased to discuss outright gifts, deferred gifts, gifts for special
projects, and gifts of stock. More information
