LibraryThing.com is a social networking site that asks the question "What's on your bookshelf?" The VHS is entering its new acquisitions of published material onto LibraryThing, which displays a catalogue of these recently acquired books, broadsides, and sheet music. LibraryThing provides easy access to these items. To search, enter a word or phase in the box at the upper right of the screen. LibraryThing will then search the title, author, and tag fields and pull up all the matches. A tag is a label attached to the item; like a subject heading, it provides information on the contents of that item.
The social feature of LibraryThing allows you to see the names of other people and institutions that have the same material. Some of the items even have comments and reviews. All of this will serve to help you discover if this is an item that interests you and will help in furthering your knowledge and research. So come in and take a look. This page is constantly changing, as new items are processed and items that have been on for 2 months are removed. The VHS hopes you will check LibraryThing frequently.
