Model of the S.S. Quanza

Model of the S.S. Quanza

Loaned by David Morewitz

This model of S.S. Quanza by Martin D. Meyer is equipped with miniature lifeboats, light fixtures, and anchors. The ship carried more than 300 Jewish refugees fleeing Hitler's Europe. Having been prohibited from docking at Veracruz, Mexico, the Quanza then travelled to Norfolk, Virginia, to refuel for the return journey to Europe.
